MESSAGE

Thank you for visiting the ANCS website.

Although I was born in the United States, I grew up moving back and forth between Japan and America due to a complex family situation. Surrounded by immigrants and family members with hearing disabilities, I witnessed countless instances in which language and cultural barriers limited people's opportunities and future choices. Having experienced life as a minority during my formative years, I majored in Deaf Studies and American Sign Language in college. I developed a strong desire to work in a field that supports minorities, including immigrants and people with disabilities.

Furthermore, while pursuing personal growth through martial arts, I realized that opportunities for overseas competitions and international exchanges during one's development contribute significantly to both technical and human growth. This applies not only to sports and martial arts, but also to all fields, including art and entertainment. While traveling between Japan and the US, I learned that, despite significant demand, many athletes and people with disabilities cannot participate in overseas programs. This is due to language and cultural barriers, compounded by a lack of local connections. These barriers prevent them from securing the necessary support, such as training environments, or from finding training partners.

In light of this situation, I founded ANCS in 2025. My goal is to create environments that enable them to thrive overseas and overcome barriers of nationality, language, culture, and disability status. As a first step toward achieving their dreams of performing on the world stage, ANCS provides support services. We wish to increase the number of people who can achieve self-realization on the global stage in the future. If more people lead independent, fulfilling lives, fewer will need to rely on welfare. Understanding and connections will also grow between different communities. We aim to embody our company's vision of “contributing to society and people.

Martial Arts Experience

Since

1993

Influenced by my respected uncle, I started judo at age 15. With 32 years of experience, I now hold a sandan (third-degree black belt). I won the California State Judo Championship and placed fifth in the 52 kg class at the All-American Championships. I also competed in the USA International Judo Championships. Although I fell short of reaching the Olympics, the joy and sense of responsibility I felt while representing my country, and the connections I made with many wonderful people through judo, are my treasures. To cross-train between judo and mixed martial arts, I started practicing wrestling and jiu-jitsu. I have about ten years of wrestling experience and twenty years of jiu-jitsu experience. I formally joined Gracie Barra in 2022 and currently hold a purple belt. The people in the photo is my uncle and my cousins.

Martial Arts Instruction Experience

Since

1995

I have approximately 30 years of experience teaching martial arts. I have taught Judo (including arrest techniques for police and full-contact combat techniques for the U.S. military), self-defense, mixed martial arts, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. While continuing activities with ANCS, I currently teach an average of five days per week. My instruction extends beyond able-bodied individuals to include adaptive judo for people with disabilities. I currently teach wrestling at a high school known for its program for the hard of hearing, where I instruct deaf and hearing students together. One of my goals as an instructor through ANCS activities is to increase not only athlete exchanges, but also coach exchanges and coaching study abroad programs. This will foster more Japanese and American instructors who will excel internationally in the future.

I have been working with Anna Jacobs for most of this past year in an attempt to bridge our two programs and communities. She has been the perfect liaison and support. She’s incredibly intuitive, sharing information before I can even ask the questions. I have also had the pleasure of having her interpret for me during a recent school visit and Anna was top notch. She was able to navigate a Japanese/English/ASL interaction smoothly. I’ve never seen anyone with that unique skill set. I thought her work extraordinary. I strongly recommend her services.

We needed an interpreter for the judo seminar and for communicating with local US residents. Anna's simultaneous interpretation style ensured that our conversations flowed smoothly, ultimately saving us time. Furthermore, she conveyed information using clear expressions rather than literal translations, making the content easy to understand and ensuring that our intentions were clearly communicated.

Her Japanese was so fluent that she could easily be mistaken for a native speaker. As a Japanese American with native English proficiency, I would entrust Anna with interpreting business, legal and medical matters without hesitation.

Anna Jacobs has been working with O.C. Interpreting for 25 + years. Anna is an exemplary professional and her partnership with O.C. Interpreting has been ideal. Anna is dependable, consistent and always carries herself with a positive demeanor. O.C. Interpreting has worked with Anna on a variety of jobs, including legal, medical, statements and IEP’s for school.

During my conference attendance in the United States, Anna from ANCS served as both interpreter and tour guide. She was well-versed not only in the conference venue and surrounding areas but also in local education and culture, consistently making optimal suggestions based on our interests and objectives.

What particularly stands out was her arranging for me to experience the “DHH Program (Learning Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing)” during my free time. I hadn't known about its existence, but she had interviewed relevant staff beforehand and carefully summarized the program's background and content to share with me. Thanks to this, I could experience not just theoretical learning, but also feel the classroom atmosphere and observe student interactions—it was like a short homestay experience.

Her unique perspective, gained from understanding sign language in addition to English and Japanese, combined with her thorough preparation, made this valuable experience possible. She is someone I trust wholeheartedly, both as an interpreter and as a person.

  • Whenever I travel to the United States, I always ask ANCS to interpret for me. Thanks to her, conversations go very smoothly, which is a huge help! I'm always a bit anxious about interacting with people overseas, but having Anna there puts my mind at ease. She helps me with more than just language; she also helps me navigate cultural differences and other aspects, which I truly appreciate.
